Why is my Tadano crane boom drifting down while under a static load?

CQ-004 · Technical
Boom drift under static load indicates worn hydraulic seals in the boom cylinder, allowing pressurized fluid to bypass internally.
Boom drift on Tadano cranes under static load is primarily caused by internal leakage in the boom lift cylinder. When hydraulic seals deteriorate, pressurized fluid bypasses from the rod side to the head side of the cylinder, causing the boom to slowly lower despite the operator maintaining control position.
