When should a rigger choose a Spreader Bar over an Equalizer Beam?

RIG-003 · Rigging
Choose a spreader bar when loads need separation to prevent contact or damage. Choose an equalizer beam when uneven load distribution or height adjustment is needed.
Spreader bars are the preferred choice when lifting loads that must be kept separated to prevent contact, damage, or interference during the lift. They maintain a fixed distance between lifting points and work best with symmetrical loads where equal weight distribution is expected. Common applications include lifting prefabricated panels, steel beams, or any cargo that could be damaged by compression forces.
