What happens to sling capacity if a synthetic sling has a burn hole?

RIG-504 · Rigging
A synthetic sling with a burn hole must be immediately removed from service. The sling has zero load capacity and cannot be used for lifting operations.
Any burn hole or heat damage on a synthetic sling renders it completely unusable and unsafe for lifting operations. The high-strength synthetic fibers in these slings lose their structural integrity when exposed to heat, creating a critical failure point that cannot support any load safely. Even small burn holes indicate that the surrounding fibers have been compromised beyond their design strength.
Reference: OSHA 1926.251(b)(2) - Rigging equipment inspection requirements
Remember: "Burn = Zero, Out of Service" - Any heat damage means NO lifting capacity, immediate removal required.
